Question:

is there evidence that it is fard to have a light on at Magrib time?

Thank you very much for your question. It is our pleasure to answer it.

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.

Dear brother, there is no single evidence in the Shai`ah for such claim. You do not need light to pray. Suppose that lights went out before or while praying, will this mean that you prayer is invalid.

And Allah knows best.
