Washing off the Impurities of Dogs 

Question:

How many times do I have to wash off the impurities of dogs?

Answer:

First of all, there is a consensus among scholars that it is not permissible to keep a dog unless it is for a purpose, like hunting or guarding property. Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “He who keeps a dog other than that meant for watching the herd or for hunting loses every day out of his deeds equal to two qirat.” (Muslim)

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “When a dog licks a utensil belonging to any one of you, (the thing contained in it) should be thrown away and then (the utensil) should be washed seven times.” (Muslim)
